Badshot Lea celebrates World Book Day

World Book Day is the biggest annual event supporting books and reading in the UK and Ireland and the emphasis for 2006 is celebration. Schools, libraries, bookshops and other venues are encouraged to hold book-related events, activities and parties.

At Badshot Lea Village Infant School we celebrated world book day on Friday 3rd March 2006 by encouraging the children and staff to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book. We were delighted to welcome such a range of book characters from the saucepan man in the Magic Faraway Tree through a host of pirates from Peter Pan, to members of the Mr Men team and Sophie from the BFG. The staff depicted the characters from Alice in Wonderland.

We all enjoyed the day and celebrated with a procession of book characters around the hall during assembly.
